About Our Chapter

Active AAUP chapters serve the profession at over 450 accredited colleges and universities. At Willamette University, our chapter advocates for the common good and economic security of all academic professionals. In particular, we believe that in order to live the university’s motto – Non nobis solum nati sumus / Not unto ourselves alone are we born – we must uphold the highest standards and professional values of academic freedom and shared governance. Our members meet regularly to discuss issues related to the core principles of AAUP and to coordinate local efforts to promote equity in higher education.
